Emily

Training Director

Emily’s journey into the world of professional dog training is rooted in her love for animals and a lifelong connection to the canine companions who have shaped her life.

Born in Lewiston, Idaho, and raised in Overland Park, Kansas, Emily’s family included two cherished rescues: Titan, a Rottweiler mix, and the spirited Jack Russell, Scruffy. It was Scruffy’s playful antics that ignited Emily’s deep affection for animals from an early age.

Emily’s academic path led her to Emporia State, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Ceramics. Her artistic focus often revolved around animal imagery, with a particular fondness for portraying canines. This artistic journey gave her a unique perspective on the beauty and complexity of animals, especially dogs.

Emily’s role as the proud mother of Burnt Toast, a Czech Working Line German Shepherd, played a pivotal role in her career transition. Owning a high-drive breed like Burnt Toast provided her with a firsthand understanding of the incredible potential that working dogs possess when guided by the right training methods.

Prior to embarking on her dog training career, Emily spent three years as an Elementary Art Teacher, nurturing young minds and creativity. However, it was her beloved canine companion, Burnt Toast, who served as the catalyst for her passion to evolve into a profession. Inspired by her dog’s potential and eager to share her expertise, Emily made the decision to follow her heart and embark on a fulfilling career as a professional dog trainer.

Today, Emily brings her artistic sensibilities, love for animals, and a profound commitment to nurturing the bond between dogs and their owners to her role as a Professional Dog Trainer. Her journey is a testament to the transformative power of following one’s passion and embracing the profound connection between humans and their four-legged companions.

Madi

Assistant Training Director

Madi’s passion for dog training began with a rescue Shepherd Pit mix owned by a close friend. Understanding the challenges and misconceptions often associated with certain breeds, she became deeply committed to developing this dog into a confident, well mannered companion. Through focused study, hands on application, and a great deal of patience, Madi quickly discovered a natural ability to read canine behavior and guide dogs toward meaningful, lasting change. What began with one dog soon expanded to helping friends and family address training challenges they had previously been unable to resolve.

Committed to building a strong educational foundation, Madi earned an Associate of Arts degree from Maple Woods Community College before completing her professional training at Kennelwood Academy for Professional Dog Trainers. Her education covered a broad range of disciplines including detection work, service dog training, tracking, hunt and retrieve skills, agility, protection work, and both basic and advanced obedience. Throughout her training, she spent extensive time shadowing experienced professionals at Kennelwood Pet Resort locations, gaining valuable hands on experience with dogs of varying breeds, ages, and behavioral needs.

Following graduation, Madi was invited to return to Kennelwood to complete an advanced internship under two world renowned trainers who had previously instructed her. During this time, she continued refining her technical skill set while also assisting in the mentorship and education of emerging professional trainers.

Madi’s work is further shaped by her experience training her own dogs, Xena, a Black Lab, and Argos, a working line German Shepherd. Both dogs were raised and trained alongside her professional education and continue to reinforce the importance of structure, consistency, and individualized training approaches. Through them, Madi developed a deep appreciation for ongoing training, maintenance, and progression beyond foundational behaviors.

At Precision Dog Training Academy, Madi applies a thoughtful, structured approach to training that prioritizes clear communication, accountability, and real world reliability. She is passionate about helping clients understand not only what to do, but why the training works, empowering families to build confident relationships with their dogs and sustain results long after formal training concludes.

Katie

Assistant Training Director

Katie brings a unique blend of professional experience, compassion, and hands-on training knowledge to her work with dogs and their families.

Born and raised in Bettendorf, Iowa, Katie earned her B.A. in Enterprise Leadership from the University of Iowa before serving as Vice President of a podcast production startup from 2019 to 2024. While her career began in media and leadership, her heart was always with dogs. After moving to Kansas City in 2022, Katie dedicated herself to volunteering at KC Pet Project, where she has already contributed more than 500 hours of service. From daily dog walking to assisting in the vet clinic and foster department, Katie immersed herself in every aspect of animal care.

Her foster journey is one of her proudest accomplishments—caring for and rehabilitating five dogs, including Sadie Sue, a terrified eight-year-old rescue who became her beloved foster fail. Alongside Sadie, Katie is also mom to Molly Jo, a spirited pit bull/German shorthaired pointer mix whose dog reactivity introduced Katie to formal training methods. Working patiently to build Molly’s confidence sparked Katie’s passion for dog training and showed her just how powerful the right guidance can be in transforming both a dog’s behavior and their relationship with their family.

Katie knows firsthand what it means to help nervous, misunderstood, and reactive dogs overcome challenges. She combines her professional leadership background with her extensive volunteer experience to bring empathy, structure, and proven techniques into every session. Her goal is simple: to help more dogs stay in the loving homes they deserve by giving families the tools and confidence they need to succeed.

When she’s not training, you’ll find Katie adventuring with Molly Jo and Sadie Sue or giving extra love to the shelter pups who need it most. For Katie, there’s no greater joy than helping dogs and their people thrive together—and she’s thrilled to be doing exactly that with the team at Precision Dog Training Academy.

Kenedi

Professional Dog Trainer

Kenedi brings a unique combination of scientific education, clinical veterinary experience, and lifelong hands on animal care to Precision Dog Training Academy. Her approach to training is rooted in building trust, improving communication, and helping dogs and their owners develop lasting relationships through structured, relationship focused training.

Raised on a family farm in Tennessee, Kenedi developed a deep connection with animals at an early age while working as a shepherd and caring for livestock. Wanting to further understand animal behavior and welfare, she attended Middle Tennessee State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and General Science.

Before transitioning fully into professional dog training, Kenedi spent over five years working in veterinary medicine and livestock operations. As a veterinary assistant, she specialized in reading canine body language, understanding stress signals, and implementing low stress handling techniques. Her clinical background gives her a strong understanding of canine behavior, emotional regulation, and safe handling practices.

Kenedi shares her life with Moose, her English Cocker Spaniel, who continues to inspire her passion for training and behavior work every day. Her experience, empathy, and calm leadership style allow her to connect naturally with both dogs and owners while helping teams build confidence, structure, and reliability together.

Kaylie

Professional Dog Trainer

Kaylie’s passion for dogs and canine training began at a young age and has continued to grow through years of hands on experience working with dogs in a wide variety of training environments. She is passionate about helping dogs and their owners develop stronger communication, reliable obedience, and lasting confidence through clear, supportive training.

Originally from Haven, Kansas, Kaylie developed a strong work ethic and team oriented mindset early in life that continues to shape her professional approach today. While earning her degree in Cybersecurity, she continued pursuing her passion for canine training and began gaining professional experience working directly with dogs and their owners at just sixteen years old.

Over the years, Kaylie has worked with dogs of all ages, breeds, and temperaments through boarding and training programs, puppy classes, service dog work, and agility training. Her volunteer experience with a local kennel club further strengthened her understanding of canine communication, confidence building, and handler teamwork.

Kaylie’s ability to connect with both dogs and people allows her to create training experiences that feel approachable, encouraging, and results driven. She believes every dog learns differently and enjoys helping owners better understand how to communicate effectively with their dogs in everyday life.

Outside of training, Kaylie enjoys spending time with her two dogs, Bentley, a Miniature American Shepherd, and Baylor, an Australian Shepherd. Her background as a college softball player also helped develop the discipline, leadership, and teamwork she now brings into her work with clients and their dogs every day.
